University of Akron-Professor Rudd!

Hello, students, I'll be your teacher for this course...why don't we take time to go around and introduce ourselves...then, we played an icebreaker and the students referred to me as...Professor Rudd!  LOL!

Becoming a part-time professor at the University of Akron was an amazing experience.  I am so grateful to my students and the staff at the university for believing in my ability and challenging me to grow in a new position.  I was given the task of developing new lessons based on the course outline for the new required course called "Teaching Social Studies for Primary Grade Teachers".

The list of new things I learned is quit long!  Here are some of them:

  • How to use Bright Space to develop course outline and content
  • How to use Bright Space to grade
  • How to give grades
  • How to best communicate with students
  • How to best make announcements
  • How to pre-plan for the lessons (this was a big time commitment component)
  • How to arrange for speakers and field trips (yes, Stan Hywet was a field trip for us)
  • How to give grades to athletes
These are just some of the fun things...

I truly enjoyed getting to know my students and they had so many kind things to say on the end of course evaluation too.  It was truly heart-warming.

Peace!  Love!  Happiness!
