Children's Literature Resources

Welcome to the Starbooks Cafe!  We have exciting children's literature to share with you!

Some day when I retire, I want to own a cafe and sell books.  Maybe I can feature my own children's literature book...
Until then, I am happy to share children's literature in the Starbooks Cafe!  I choose book titles from the NCSS Notable Tradebook List for 2021-22 and 2022-23.  The students rotated through the books and tried to read and rate as much as they could throughout the course of our evening together.  We finally determined which book they liked best.

At the end of the semester, the students reflected that this was one of their favorite class sessions.  Secretly, it was mine too.  Reviewing the books was a lot of fun and we got to learn about so many high quality children's books together.  Cheers to coffee and books.

(a shout out to Teach and Achieve for some of the graphics used in my presentation with the students)

Another key idea I shared with the students was to introduce a new title for each night of class.  It was a great way to connect topics and titles in Social Studies.
